Meet the Director of Theater
Ms. Cathy Swain-Abrams
Director of Theater, Orange High
Theater and Language Arts Teacher
Beginning her 12th year as Theatre Director at OOHS, Ms. Swain-Abrams received her BFA from Denison University in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in Costuming, and attended Ashland University to receive her teaching credentials. She teaches all OOHS theatre classes, countless English electives, and College Prep English 9, while directing the extracurricular theatre program. In 2016, Ms. Swain-Abrams was named Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Educational Theatre Association, and in 2019 she was named Best Director by the CAPA Marquee Awards for Seussical. In the summer, Ms. Swain-Abrams has performed with Actor’s Theatre in Schiller Park and Red Herring Theatre Company.
Her children, Gillian and Gavin, are proud Pioneer graduates who participated in orchestra, choir, band, and theatre and are majoring in the Performing Arts in college. “Swabes” resides in Lewis Center with her husband, Bob, and their menagerie of pets.
